Snow Prince
Like a falling sun refracted through lace
Into a rosy room of secrets with a trace
Of a fragrance that the winter wind will blow
Across the tracks we left out in the snow
I loved you, then a little snowflake fell
From a broken branch in the dark woods by the well.
I turn my head. A pale gray morning breaks,
And I gaze out on a world of frozen lakes,
So now I guess I'll just say a short farewell.
So many things to know, and, who can tell,
Maybe I'll remember what I lost
When I walk alone upon the starlit frost.
